Three Days, Three Quotes Challenge #3

Thanks Renegade Expressions, I somehow managed to do this in time!

Rules of the challenge:

  • Three quotes for three days.
  • Three nominees each day (no repetition).
  • Thank the person who nominated you.
  • Inform the nominees

My third quote for this challenge is:

Three things cannot be long hidden: the sun, the moon, and the truth. – Gautama Buddha

I’m an honest person by choice. I wasn’t always. Like many human beings, I learned the art and benefit of lying for convenience and expedience at a young age. But as I matured, I learned and embraced the value of honesty. Also, I hate being lied to, so why should I lie? I prefer to speak my truth, to be honest in my interactions and to be mindful of the effects of duplicity on my relationships, personal and otherwise.

A constant ditty now plays in my head compliments of my Mother: ‘Speak the truth and speak it ever, cost it what it will; he who hides the wrong he does, does the wrong thing still’. These days, I speak my truth because I have learned that it always comes out in the end. Our truths are revealed in our actions even if we try to conceal them with our words. And often enough, our words slip out and belie the duplicity of our actions.

I’m not naive, nor am I idealistic. Sure there are instances where it is kind, or beneficial or simply prudent to conceal our thoughts or deeds for a time, but only so long as we are aware that the eventuality is that it will come to light. Should we choose this path we should still be aware that the truth will not remain long hidden and we should always be ready to face the consequences.

Today I nominate:

The Sinner Saint Diary

Sadly, as I’m fairly new to this blogging thing, I’ve run out of people to nominate 😦
